Amrut Rang- Yuva Urja Mahotsav
The annual function of the Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University- the Youth Festival is after the gap of Two Years organised by the University from the host Institute the Takshashila Institute of Science and Commerce.
The youth festival every time represents new themes, like the last time’s theme was Rang Mohan in 2019 and it was based on our Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, in this year's Youth festival’s theme was Amrut Rang and it was based on the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign of the current government of the India.
The youth festival was organised in 3 days scheduled from 19th to 21st September, before that there was a "Kalayatra" for the teams of various colleges of MKBU on 18th September.
Kalayatra
Kalayatra is a rally for the participant colleges to showcase their creativity with a theme. The main theme throughout the Kalayatra seems to be the New Education policy 2020 and the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and also Many participants came up with different themes and also they seem to have spent their funds on it. Kalayatra also seems to demonstrate the position of government colleges among the private institutes in comparison of budget.
Some also came up with messages to society and suggestive themes. I like the theme of Accidents on the road that was presented by the Samaldas Arts college.
The theme of local or tribal dance was also the enjoyable one.
I might have also liked the theme of Women empowerment but they only displayed the women of old times who also were queens and not of current time and success in their respective area of work who came from nothing and built their careers.
We, The Department of English also participated in the Kalayatra rally and had theme of Literature and Digital World.
The first day- 19th September
The first day started with the opening ceremony at 10am.The main guest of the event was (those who know him called) “our beloved” Jitubhai Vaghani, who is the Education Minister in the state government of Gujarat. The other guests were Abhishek Jain (director, founder- Oho Gujarati), Kirtiben Danidhariya (mayor), Bhartiben Shiyal (Member of Parliament), Safin Hasan (IPS) etc.
Safin Hasan Sir, the youngest IPS gave his last speech and attended the last event in Bhavnagar as he was transferred elsewhere. He also talked about the young generation as he called it the confused generation and not the misguided generation. What we need is the right path in this world full of variety.
Moulik Pathak (Managing Trustee- Takshashila) also gave speech about what Takshashila institute is doing for the welfare of the Bhavnagar and have capacity to do such a great event for maharaja Krishnakumar Sinhji Bhavnagar University.
Abhishek Jain gave the voice and spoke about the young artists and actors and was very inspirational to the young people who are interested in the field of theatre and movie.
Bhartiben Shiyal (Member of Parliament) gave a speech about the vision of PM Narendra Modi for the sake of youth and also encouraging the young generation.
Our education Minister of the state, Jitu Vaghani also tried to awaken the spirit of the youth and recall the duty of students as the citizens of India.
After the various speeches of the guests, the main event of the day-1 of the youth festival began.
The major competitions of the day were Mimicry competition, Bhajan competition, instant drawing competition, Quiz competition (preliminary), Poetry competition, Folk dance competition, Maim competition, Collage competition etc .
The second day- 20th September
On the second day of Youth festival there were competitions like Western song (group), Western Song (solo), Duha and Chhand, One act play, Mono Acting, Classical Dance, Skit, Classical Singing, Folk Song, Poster Making, Clay Modelling, Mehndi competition, Photography competition, Cartooning, Quiz final round, Assay writing, Short film competition etc.
In all these events I had attended classical dance and Skit, that was a very refreshing and nice experience.
Classical dance and music is something that even when you don't have any technical knowledge or sense or taste about it but you can still like it or love it sometime, same goes for me.
Skit that means to be funny and silly was the best part at the end of the day that refreshed the mood after the long day.
Code 3
The very first performance by College(code) 3 was about the most famous antagonist of the Indian myth and epic Ramayana, Ravana who comes to visit the “Ram Rajya” that was established by the The King Ram of Ayodhyaa but rather he finds the modern day India with increasing crime and corruptions and inferiority in the modern society and old thinking and practices.
Code 6
The second performance by College(code) 6 was about Lockdown and Things that happened During it. It also covered some recent events of woman abuse and crimes related to it. They questioned the mentality of society and where its leading the people. The performance gave the message of social reforming and women empowerment.
Code 7
This performance by college(code) 7 was a satire on current politics and trending topics. They used different aspects of satire like Farce, vit, black humour, They showed by “Kama”, Gangubai, Pushpa etc, how people are being foolish to encourage some stupid people and even blindly follow them even if they don't know what knowledge of any subject or situation they got.
‘Kama’ is in real life got first public sympathy and later became famous by that but know people think that he has something in him and are blindly following him rather than realising that he is just a person who is autistic or have some difficulty and is got famous by public sympathy and not someone who can solve public issues or have political knowledge. Also how the philosophy of fictional characters like Pushpa and Gangubai is foolishly applied by people in reality.
Code 8
The performance of collage(code) 8 was about Humanity and the “WHY” question that why we are losing our humanity. The topic was about humanity but they focused more on modern lifestyles. That surrogate child, Babysitters and women who wear jeans are making humanity disappear. It was indeed funny but the message seems to be wrongly applied here, that modern life and facilities are the reasons for humanity to desepeare and that our moral schooling is becoming weaker and weaker. How we apply the morals in clothes and lifestyle but not understand human emotions.
Code 13
This performance was about Trial on Student and Teacher, and they tried to understand what is going wrong with children and education. They showed that its teachers fault that students are having useless educations and having appearance of stupid otherwise they are so bright and can learn on their own but the schools are useless. They even ponder the question of “Let them remain Children” and not burden them With education and books. Their focus was on childhood and They forgot to think about how they will become mature and deal with the adult world.
Code 19
It was already said to the audience that this performance is something that you don't have to apply logic and is completely for entertainment. The title was “Love e-story” and was compiled work of fiction and was far away form social issues and politics but was also something that is seen many times and was not new concept. Set in a rural background, love story of a bagger and a middle class girl.
The third day- 21st September

Winners of Department of English
My experience of Youth Festival
I have experienced this event from three points of view. First as an audience and viewer, second as a volunteer at the Department of English and third as a participant in the competition.
I have never been to any annual function in my graduation years, so it was my very first experience of a youth festival. I can say that it was the biggest and finest competition event that i have ever seen. Everything was well arranged and even a transport facility was available for the participants. I have also volunteered for help in the competitions that were orgenised to take at the Department of English. When the participants came they had to verify their registrations and there was no need to reveal the college names, every colleges were given code numbers, so the competitions appears to be transparent and fair.
I have also participated in the installation. We were unprepared and lacked the creativity that one needed in this competition. I can not say it was a good experience but it was a memorable one. It taught us the lesson to be prepared for what we get assigned to. So in the future, whether it be the same competition or any other, I will give my best work.
Thank you for visiting...
